The ability to be mentally tough is vital if you want to succeed in today’s intense and highly competitive world. It involves being at your very best when you need to be and also reacting and coping with adversity and setbacks.
Our course will show you the tactics you can use to be able to perform at a level that you would not have thought you were capable of as well as how you can raise your ability over time to reach greater levels of achievement than you would ever have imagined
Why Paul Sculthorpe?
Paul was one of the greatest rugby league players of the last twenty years, he achieved levels of playing that few in the world could match and was the only player in rugby league history to win the Man of Steel award in consecutive seasons.
Much of Paul's success came from his mental toughness. He received personal coaching in Neuro Linguistic programming (NLP) techniques during his career and used the lessons he learned to drive himself to unprecedented levels of success.
In 2007 Paul came back from years of injury and 6 months of rehab after knee surgery. He stunned his surgeon by returning to fitness months ahead of schedule so that he could play in the World Club Championships against the Aussie superstar club The Brisbane Broncos.
Ahead of the game Paul hadn't kicked a rugby ball for 6 months. Yet in his first game back from injury, in the World Club Championships, in front of a packed Reebok stadium and a large TV audience he agreed to take the kicks at goal to give his club the best chance of winning.
The mental pressure and doubts should have been massive, to make matters worse the first kick he attempted couldn’t have been more difficult.

Paul used his mental toughness to great effect, only allowing himself to think positively and concentrating on the process of kicking rather than the possible outcomes of the kick.
You too can learn the techniques of mental toughness to help you to perform better at key moments.
Jimmy Gittins developed his own mental toughness on the building sites and during a ten year professional rugby carreer in the UK and Australia
He needed this strength when adversity struck after he broke his neck in two places. You can read all about Jimmy's incredible story on his profile page here.
In our Mental Toughness training programme Jimmy will tell you how he not only was able to amaze the doctors and walk out of the hospital but was able to rebuild his life until he was achieving levels of achievement and happiness even greater than before his injury
