THE HULL TO OLD TRAFFORD HAND CYCLE CHALLENGE

THE EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN OF LEAGUE

LEAGUE’S EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN. FROM HULL TO MANCHESTER ON HANDBIKES

Engage Presenters Director and Motivational Speaker Jimmy Gittins first met Steve Prescott MBE on the ‘Walk Against Cancer’ in 2007 and a firm friendship was cemented. Steve Prescott and Jimmy Gittins shared the same philosophy that “What the mind believes, the body achieves!”

Both pushed their bodies physically and mentally to the limit, overcame adversity and the cards they were dealt. They tackled many challenges together, including a parachute jump, cycling across France, paddling a dragon boat down the Thames and their final challenge, ‘The Race to the Grand Final’ in 2012.

immy Gittins has enlisted 8 extraordinary gents to continue Steve’s legacy, in a challenge that would be befitting of the great man.

On previous challenges Jimmy has put his disabilities to one side and completed challenges in the same manner as the abled bodied participants. This time the able bodied participants will complete ‘The Journey of League’s Extraordinary Gents’ on hand cycles supplied by Cyclone Mobility.

Jimmy will be joined by great friends from State of Mind Sport and supporters of The Steve Prescott Foundation. They are Ryan Glynn, Peter Stephenson, and Mike Burnett who have all sustained serious injuries playing Rugby League. Rugby League legend, Danny Sculthorpe, Rugby League Photographer, Andy Davies, Mick Bradshaw from Sporting Image fame, Phil “The Captain” Cooper, State of Mind Sport and Steve Prescott Foundation Ambassador, Andy Reid who lost three of his limbs in Afghanistan. The final two gents are MOCHA TV Film Company Director Owen Cotterell and John Moores University student mental health nurse, Will Stringer.

If hand cycling 200 miles was not enough, Jimmy Gittins in his wisdom has opted not to stay overnight in hotels but the team will camp at amateur rugby league clubs along the way.
